We all have dreams. Dreams create our world and future. They make life worth living. But we live in a broken world, our dreams lost or long forgotten. Our world can be made whole, healed, reinvented. We can create a new and better future. All it takes is a dream.

Let me introduce you to a magical world that is all around you but which you do not see. Let me introduce a future just ahead of the present moment, just over the horizon of your beliefs, just beyond your experience: Imagine we had solved our personal and even global problems, not that we had put an end to all problems for all people, but that we had found an actionable solution. Two questions arise.

Question #1: what would life be like?

Life would be truly enchanted for those who could let it be that way. Life would no longer be a struggle to survive or get ahead. We could create lives worth living. We would know how to integrate power and wisdom, magic and science, dreams and reality, compassion and intelligence, intuition and logic, freedom and responsibility. The conflicts and antagonisms of today would be gone. It would not be a perfect world. But it would be a world capable of intelligent change, evolution, not mere progress. It would be a world rooted in personal power not public authority.

Question #2: what would we know then that could help us now?

To Live In The Light, You Must Embrace The Dark

When we are children, we understand our selves and our world as literal and physical. We are aware of what we do, not what we think or feel. As we enter our teen years, we become self-aware, aware of our thoughts and emotions and those of others. The world around us did not change. We changed. And that inner change changes everything. We call it growing up but it is evolution on a personal scale.

Your world is evolving on a global scale. You are experiencing a collective evolution from collective adolescence to maturity, from a world rooted in the mind, to a world rooted in spirit.

The barrier between your personal inner world and our public outer world is an illusion. Our outer world is an extension of our collective inner worlds. This would not be a problem, except that adolescents are unaware of the interacting forces of light and dark within them. Your inner world is largely unmanaged. And so the darkness within you creates a darkness around you. You can manage the darkness around you only by embracing the darkness within you.

Forces you have been taught to ignore, avoid, or fear, secretly and silently control your world and life. We call these forces, Shadows. They are unexpected, disturbing, yet they are the secret to the future, they hold the power of global enchantment. In a world dominated by Shadows, nothing is what it seems, yet everything is . . . perfectly normal.

Yours is a world of magic and true enchantment, where the Gods and powers of ancient myth are silently returning to earth as ordinary human beings. It is a world of power, where each moment responds to your choices and  actions.

Yours is a world at war with itself: those with power reject wisdom, and those with wisdom reject power. The forces of light and shadow, order and chaos, are in conflict  on a global scale. There is a reckoning in process. All human beings must choose: extinction or transformation.

That is the story and adventure already upon you. It affects every moment of your life. The question is: will you live the adventure, or hide from it?

The Enchanted Earth

Ancient myths around the world tell us the earth was once enchanted, and will be again. There were advanced civilizations. The forces of heaven and earth were embodied in many forms, some of them human. Then a darkness fell upon the earth. The gods vanished. The earth was disenchanted. Why?

Humanity is a race of mages, people of Power who shape reality through acts of mind. In the collective childhood of our pre-history we discovered our power to shape reality. But it soon became difficult, even problematic, to use. With any skill there is a period of early success, “beginner’s luck,” followed by a more difficult middle period or adolescence of trial and error, mistakes and learning. Finally, there is mastery and maturity. The task of adolescence is to achieve success through skill, not luck. If the steep learning curve and the need for constant “practice” to acquire skill does not discourage you from continuing, success is inevitable. The human race is in the end-stage of its adolescence. Now, you must reckon with your unintended creations: Shadows.

The War of Shadows

For individuals, adolescence lasts about 10 years. For the human race, it has lasted about 10,000 years. For any human being, adolescence is a difficult period. For a mage, an adolescence of trial and error is more than problematic, it is dangerous. Magic can alter the dance of light and shadow, order and chaos. Magic is the impact of Power on our world. Our choices have Power, and everything . . . everything, is a choice. Everything is a magical act. When a mage’s inner life is unmanaged, every act, thought, choice creates a Shadow, a darkness that does not respond to light, chaos immune to order. In a world of Sleepers (adolescent, untutored, and unaware mages) such mistakes are constant. So, where once the forces of life danced, now they fight you for control of your life and world. It is a war you can’t win because it is a war within yourself. You experienced that war as if it is going on around you, but that is because you are not fully self-aware. You are trapped in an unintentional war, a conflict typical of adolescents that began when you turned avoiding death and darkness into your way of life.

But death does not end the War of Shadows. It only changes the location. Life is a healthy balance or dance of order and chaos, light and dark. Shadows are created when the bond between order and chaos is severed by mage activity. Shadows are like ghosts: they haunt your world with death, disorder, hardship, and suffering. Shadows accumulate generation after generation, silent and invisible forces, interfering in your affairs, threatening your  survival, to the point of extinction . . . or transformation.

Shadows are immune to light and order because you keep them separated by thought and action, intention and fear. Shadows exist in a world of mind, invisible to all but Awakened Mages, unresponsive to all but Roar Mages. Shadows bring death . . . or Awakening, and transformation. It is your choice.

Saving The Future

The once enchanted earth is now a world of darkness, called Shade. Your life and world are overrun by your Shadows and those of your ancestors. Haunted by Shadows for thousands of years, humanity must now reckon with them on a global scale or be destroyed. What will you do? What can you do?

Your world can once again be the enchanted earth of your ancestors, but only when the War of Shadows is ended. In a world of mages that should be easy, but with a planet full of Sleepers, the outcome is uncertain at best. The task of any adolescent is to survive adolescence, to become a mature and contributing member of adult society. In a world of Sleepers, the task is to Awaken and then develop the wisdom and skill to manage your power before your Shadows destroy you. This means becoming a fully human being, an Awakened and skilled mage, not just an adolescent with more Power than wisdom.

You have the power to change your world, but first you must evolve. You must Awaken to a world you would prefer to ignore.

The human task is to fulfill our possibility as beings of Power: to create and experience an enchanted earth, a place that at the very least is safe and healthy for us all. Interestingly, the only way to do that is to move beyond the logic and rationality that brought us to imminent global reckoning. We cannot abandon logic for magic, but we can, and must, integrate them - or we may not have a future.

Beginning With The Present

I invite you to the greatest adventure and challenge of your life. Experience the true adventure of life just beyond the prison of your mind. Understand and embellish the Great Story of life. It is a hero’s adventure to be sure: the future is at risk, the fate of our human experiment is uncertain. That is the challenge, the adventure of your lifetime.
